Southwest Foot & Ankle has been treating neuropathy with the V-Care device for several years. We use it to help patients not only reduce pain and heal faster, but also to prevent the condition. Here is some information on how the device works and why it could be extremely beneficial for you.
How it Works
We typically employ a multi-faceted approach to treat neuropathy, and in many instances the V-Care device is a very important component. Developed by an electrical engineer who worked at NASA, the device provides therapeutic stimulation that helps improve communication between the brain and the affected area – typically the foot. Electrical signals flow through the body in a manner similar to a smooth, rolling wave.
All waves have peaks and troughs, and those in the body are no different. The smoother the wave flows, the more conducive it is for healing. The device corrects issues that can interrupt the flow of signals so the body can heal more efficiently. It creates a waveform that is compatible with what is typically generated by the body – in a nutshell, it substitutes for a function that no longer works correctly.
The easiest way to explain it is to think about the area affected by neuropathy sending a message to the brain. If it could talk, it would say something along the lines of, “I need blood.” The V-Care device helps get the message through so the brain can respond by sending that much-needed blood, which can help heal the condition.
